November 27th

Carolina’s Notes
Today is another Travel Day. I got ready and packed for the road. We drove through Texas into Louisiana and Mississippi. We drove 440 miles and it was a good traveling day. Tony and I talked and talked. We talked SO much that our voices were hoarse. We talked about anything and everything; it felt like when we first met. Tony and I would talk for hours. I was SO glad that we didn’t have tension or harsh words. We were just communicating what was on our minds. It was time well spent!!

Once it got dark and many miles had been behind us, we decided to stop in New Orleans. We were going into New Orleans blindly without any planning. Once in New Orleans, we couldn’t find lodging or a place to park the RV so we had to get back on the highway. We stopped at a Lowe’s and heated up leftovers for dinner. It was after 9:00 p.m. at night; Tony asked me to be patient and he’d get us a stop to sleep. I remained patient until we arrived at a Flying J. We were able to fill up the gas tank and pick up some convenience items for enjoying our evening in the RV. We enjoyed watching a couple movies then went to bed. I enjoyed my travels with Tony. I went to bed content.

Tony’s Notes
I was disappointed that I did not stay a day or so in New Orleans. I had not planned to do so, and not planning was the problem. I should have cut over to I-12, and stayed at an RV Park off the highway, that way, we could have gone into downtown New Orleans all day and evening on Saturday, and hit the road again on Sunday.

However, instead, we drove the RV into downtown New Orleans, in the dark. The one RV Park we stopped at was booked. There was some event that weekend that brought everyone into town, and Monday night football was in town, so people were coming in for that event, as well. Just as well, because that RV resort would have been $100 per night. We drove around looking for a place to park, but there was no room anywhere for a Motorhome towing a car; after all, I am over 50 feet long.

I really want to walk up bourbon street and stop somewhere for some Cajun or something like that. Anyway, I got back on I-10 and made our way to the Flying J Truck stop. We slept between two semi-trucks. It was a nice evening, but the engines were running all night on the trucks next to us, and in the morning, I could feel a headache from the constant noise. Of course, it was free parking for the night.
