November 14th - Apache Junction

Tony’s Notes
I enjoyed the stay at the hotel room the night before, and the big breakfast at Waffle House.
I also was glad to only drive less than twenty miles down the road to the Carefree Manor RV Resort. It was less than sixteen dollars a night. They have a fairly decent Wi-Fi and we have a great view of Superstition Mountains.

We got hooked up and I was able to get some maintenance tasks completed early in the afternoon. The area was a bit foreign to us. We were in the desert, and the entire town seemed to be RV Parks full of seniors from the north coming down here to stay warm for the winter.

We went out and drank margarita’s at a place called Arizona Joe’s, the headed over to a Chili’s and ate some food.

Carolina’s Notes
I woke up late because last night I just couldn’t fall asleep in my room at Days Inn. I was up until 2:00 a.m. I don’t know why. The accommodations were terrific!! I just couldn’t settle down for bed. I’m beginning to wonder if it’s over money or the prospect of traveling home to Michigan in winter inclement weather conditions. My journey through the mountains has been challenging enough without inclement conditions. Anyway, I had no time to waste because check out was at 11:00 a.m. The free breakfast was cancelled out of the morning plans due to time. I felt badly about this fact. There is a Waffle House located next to Days Inn but I really didn’t want to spend money despite my longing to eat at Waffle House. I figured if Days Inn was offering free breakfast then we should partake. Again, I had to get packed, showered, and dressed and time was of the essence. As it was we left the room after 11:00 a.m. but the clerk didn’t remark about tardiness. It was almost 11:30 am and we needed to eat. We did eat at Waffle House and I enjoyed my meal; I hope it doesn’t visit me again as a form of indigestion.

Well we were on the road; we are headed for Carefree Manor RV Resort in Apache Junction, AZ. Apache Junction is approximately thirty miles east of Phoenix. Our campsite has a great view of mountains. It is very overcast and sprinkling on and off. The mountains help the cloudy day. I must say that I am lethargic; I suspect it is because of my getting to bed late and the heavy breakfast. Tony is occupying himself with maintenance on the Gray and Blank Tanks. Carefree Manor RV Resort does not offer Cable TV to short term guests so killing time watching some college football is a bust. I would have liked to have seen some college ball…just wasn’t in the cards. Tony said I could go to clubhouse but it’s not the same as sitting in my Harry. I actually have tasks I’ve wanted to get accomplished and now I should take advantage of this opportunity. I am actually enjoying my mellow CD music in the radio and not having to travel far. I just can’t remember the last time I really didn’t have any commitments and I must say that it feels strange…VERY strange. I’d better get to my busy work. Actually I am going to get laundry done since the weather is cloudy and sprinkling this is the ideal time. I guess the busy work will have to get done later.

Laundry was completed and busy work not. Tony wanted to go out for dinner and cocktails. We had fun then came home and settled down for bed. We had a nice day with each other.
