Tony’s Notes
We had a fantastic Saturday afternoon visiting my Aunt Jeff, and my cousins, Rose and Carole. My aunt Jeff (Genevieve) is my Dad’s sister. I had not seen her since my Dad died back in February of 1999. She looked beautiful; I could see my Dad’s face in hers. I miss my father, and seeing my aunt also gave me the feeling like I was also visiting with my Dad.
I think I talked their ears off. We really had a great visit. We were at their home from noon until after 5pm, maybe 6pm. Carole fed us a great lunch. I had not given them much notice that we would be visiting. I had planned to visit, but have not been doing anything on any schedule for over three months. I had expected to be up at Yosemite National Park and Sequoia National Park at this time. So, I had called my cousin Rose on Friday morning, and the called my aunt on Friday evening. We made plans to go to her home, at Carole’s, on Saturday at noon. What a great visit; I hope to do it again one day in the future. Aunt Jeff is starting to get a little forgetful, like my Dad did. Although she may not remember all the details of our visit, I know she will remember that we visited.
We found the Long Beach waterfront area totally by accident. Our RV Resort is right there, but after a few wrong turns trying to get home, we were at Shoreline Village and the Pike. I could see the Queen Mary across the harbor; it was beautifully lit up. The lighthouse was lit up in blue, and the area was very nice. We sat and drank expensive margaritas, again. When we left Parker’s Lighthouse, we walked into a Halloween party. Everyone welcomed us, even though we were not in costumes. We met people, exchanged names, and ordered drinks. I asked a couple at the bar, “Where are we?”, and they laughed and said we were at a private member only yacht club. It was obvious to them, and us, that we were crashing a private party. They said as long as we were buying drinks, we should stay. We danced and had great fun. They even had food and started serving us food. We over indulged, but got home and slept it off.
Carolina’s Notes
I woke up and lingered in bed for a few extra minutes. I’m not sure why I’m not reaching my REM sleep the past few days. I eventually got out of bed and washed my face in hopes to shake the cobwebs loose. I decided to sip coffee and finish journalizing then shower and dress. We have a date to visit Tony’s aunt and cousins. I’m looking forward to our visit because I haven’t seen them in years and they are wonderful people.
We arrived at Tony’s aunt’s house right on time. We had a marvelous afternoon visiting. We spent many hours visiting but the time passed so quickly. On our way home, Tony wanted to stop to check out Shoreline Village and the Pike. It is a nice place. Everything was lit up because night had fallen. Tony took me to Parkers’ Lighthouse because they had the World Series playing. Tony knows that I love watching baseball and he wasn’t ready to rush home. We watched the baseball game and talked the bartender’s ear off. We enjoyed the atmosphere as we gazed out the windows showing off the city skyline. After the game, we wondered around and came upon a Halloween party. We went in and things were jumping. We made our way to the bar to order a drink. We found out that we crashed a yacht club’s private party but no one seemed to mind. Tony and I watched for a while then we took the plunge and started dancing. We had a blast! Alas I was getting tired and wanted to get home to the RV (affectionately known as Harry).
Once home we needed time to settle down from all the fun we had today. We watched TV until bed. I had a marvelous time today! I am very grateful for all the things that I have.
