Carolina’s Notes
We woke up and started calking. Once the calking was done, we soaked in the hot tub then showered and dressed. Our mail arrived so Tony wanted to pay bills. I put together a Mary Kay Cosmetic order for my neighbor in Sky Valley Resort. I didn’t want to wait until the last minute so I am ready for my 10:00 a.m. appointment tomorrow. I love selling Mary Kay Cosmetics! It has given me an avenue to meet wonderful people that I would normally not know. I am happy to report that Tony & I ate breakfast and lunch at home. We are trying to exercise and eat right despite ourselves.
Once our tasks were completed we had to mail our bills. We went to the US Post Office to make sure the bills would go out quickly. We also visited the library to update our blog and Facebook. Tony is also hunting for work. I had a chance to chat with my mother while out and about. She wants me to come back to Michigan. Mom told me that she has appreciated EVERYTHING my daughter has done for her every time we talk. I can tell in my mom’s voice that she just wants her daughter home; my mom has never said to come home to me. I must admit I wasn’t sure how to process this information. My mom and I haven’t had a ‘traditional’ mother-daughter relationship. We bicker all the time and there has only been a few times in my life that she has told me that she loves me. My mom is eccentric and has been almost as long as I have lived. My mom has many admirable qualities that get overlooked because of her eccentricity. I know for better or for worse she is my mom and I am her daughter. My mom wants me HOME! I have always told my mom the way I know it. I told her honestly that Tony is trying to find work and if he needs to get to an interview outside of Michigan that he’d like to be close. Mom hasn’t asked about the nuts and bolts of his job search. I did tell her before I left that many of the jobs that Tony qualifies to do is in other states. She is also aware the one opportunity in the Grand Rapids, MI area didn’t offer him the open position. Mom just sends Tony and me her love, prayers and support and she adds to pray to God for the answers that we search. This is the advice that I’ve always taken from my mom. I have invited God to accompany Tony and me on this sabbatical and despite our bickering we say our prayers and believe in God’s Will. Yes mom is eccentric but she makes sense many times whether I can absorb it at the time or not.
In the meantime, I am going to complete my computer tasks and enjoy my husband’s company and evening. We stopped and had pizza and wine at Papa Dan’s. It was fun! We arrived home then relaxed until it was time for bed. It was a nice day!
Tony’s Notes
We had another great day relaxing in this wonderful desert resort. We completed the most important areas needing to be calked. I was not able to get 100% of the RV calked on the outside, but the important areas were done, and I have no plans to do anymore calking this week.
Tomorrow will be our last day here before heading for Arizona. We plan to head into old downtown Palm Springs and check out the area.
Our neighbors here at Sky Valley RV Resort are here until April. They are from Canada. They just recently became empty nesters, like Carolina and I. They are our age and have made a living as country Christian singers. There names are Trevor and Jennifer Baker, and they drive a MCI 1965 bus that was converted into a motorhome. They have quite a nice coach. Carolina will meet with Jennifer tomorrow morning to discuss Mary Kay products. I needed to pull Carolina’s inventory out, so that she could check and make sure she had the products in stock for Jennifer.
I did enjoy getting into town today, but was not very motivated to job search. Now that it is getting dark by 5:30pm, I feel tired earlier, or at least it feels later than what it actually is. We enjoyed pizza, spaghetti, and red wine at Papa Dan’s. This was our second time this week that we ate pizza, and drank wine out for an evening. However, we were good and got home early, and had a good night sleep.
