October 4th - Leaving Washington State

Carolina’s Notes
We got up and took showers and got ready to head onto Oregon. Despite being armed with one dose of Dramamine and wristbands it was a little nervy for me. At least once we reached the city of Portland. My trip was actually smooth until we hit that busy city traffic and those tall bridges. I was surprised at the amount of cars buzzing around on a late Sunday afternoon. I was even sitting in the Passenger Seat. I was glad that even though I became nerved up I didn’t melt down. We found our destination of ‘Sleepy Hollow RV Park’ in Lafayette, OR and hooked up. The hook up wasn’t as smooth as previous stops, which rattled Tony. Despite the hiccups we hung out in Harry and relaxed. Tony fixed dinner and we watched TV until bed.

We unfortunately had harsh words before we crawled into bed because we were talking about Hot Button Issues relating to life back in Detroit. This is not the time to bring up issues or these issues thrust upon you that require thought. If one acts or reacts out of haste it proves disastrous. We went to bed cross with each other. I hate that this happens more and more often. I have to say that I have had a shorter fuse than normal and I wish I knew why. Anyway, we got to bed and hoped tomorrow would be better.

Tony’s Notes
It really wasn’t a bad day. We drove from Copalis Beach, Washington to the Portland, Oregon area. It was a very pretty drive with many views of Mount St. Helen’s, the Columbia River, and many scenic landscapes.

The RV Park that we hooked up at was just outside of Portland and it was a Passport America park. It provided a full hook-up with Cable and Wi-Fi. It was only twelve dollars per night. We got there about 5:45pm in the afternoon, and the office was closed. So, we found a spot and would register the next morning. The place was old, and not well kept. One guy in a camper trailer down the lane had been living there for eight years. However, it sufficed as an excellent base camp for us to get out in the area.
