Carolina’s Notes
On the road to Seattle I am hopeful that I don’t get nerved up. I do feel that the more I drive through the mountainous terrain the more I am acclimating. I’ll arm myself with one pill of Dramamine and the wrist bands (to help motion sickness). While in Seattle, I’d like to visit their aquarium. Tony was also interested but no time frame set yet. We need to get to ’Trailer Inns R.V. Park’ in Seattle/Bellevue and park first. I have to stick to my plan and take one day at a time and one task at a time.
We got up and threw clothes on to get to’ Trailer Inns R.V. Park’ in Seattle/Bellevue. While on the seventy mile journey we stopped for breakfast. The name of the place is ‘The Family Pancake House.’ We were pleased with the food and service. We were ready to continue on our way to Bellevue. On the way there, I did get a little nervy. I managed to keep from having an attack but it makes for an uncomfortable ride especially just having a great breakfast. We made it to our destination and hooked up. We decided to utilize the swimming and laundry facilities. We enjoyed multitasking; we did laundry while swimming. Great huh? Our plan was to stick around the homestead to devise plans for our weeklong stay here.
Well, Tony hasn’t sat still long enough yet on our sabbatical and this stop was no exception. After picking up my prescription from the local RiteAid, Tony wanted to get into downtown Seattle to survey the landscape and attractions. We drove around the city and drove up and down streets I sure wasn’t accustom to traveling. These streets are mountainous so to me it was like riding a roller coaster at Cedar Point in Ohio. I managed to keep it together but I was no help to Tony with the map. I was sitting ‘shot gun’ and watching traffic signs along with reading maps are the duties. We found a parking garage and parked. On foot, we roamed the city streets wanting to get closer to the water. We took a public pathway to the boardwalk/pier areas. We had to take a staircase down. I wasn’t expecting the five-story staircase and panicked. I managed to get down but I was embarrassed and felt like a sissy cat. My thought process was that the streets had nerved me up so when I saw down, the panic took over…NUTS!! I am determined to get over this fear. It is quite awful. Anyway, Tony helped as best as he could because when I start down that path I can get mouthy, good and bad. This time I cursed and behaved rudely to Tony. I apologized to him. He was forgiving but it takes it toll on him too.
Anyhow, we weren’t going to let that spoil our adventure so we found the aquarium but it was closed. At least we know their hours of operation. We strolled along the outside of the aquarium to view the sights and sounds of this water metropolis. Tony wanted to grab a bite to eat so we ate at ‘The Fishermans Restaurant and Bar.’ It was the right choice! We enjoyed sitting outside and the cuisine and the service was great! The feast for two was the hit. We ate then decided to get back because I had forgotten my maintenance medicine so we had to get back home. We wound up stopping for another cocktail at the garage where we parked. We met a great lady from CA and we talked about our sabbatical while I bored her with the pictures. She was a sport and we enjoyed her company. Well then we were off to get home. On the way home, Tony was still thirsty for one more cocktail so we got me home then walked to ‘Outback Steakhouse.’ We enjoyed our time then went home. We watched TV to give time for our food and beverages to digest then turned out the lights. Night.
Tony’s Notes
I was amazed at the Seattle waterfront and downtown area. The waterfront was beautiful, and I looked forward to having some fun in this area. My original intentions were to spend our time at Olympic National Park. That was still the plan, but for this week, it would be to explore the Seattle area, Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, and so forth.
We enjoyed a feast at Fisherman’s Restaurant along the Seattle waterfront. We started with a bucket full of clams and mussels. Then we had their chowder, salad, and then they brought us some fresh salmon. We enjoyed a local microbrew and headed back to the parking lot to head for home base. We ended up stopping at a ‘high-end’ cocktail bar next to the parking facility, so I got us each fancy margarita. They were like $15 each; still living like I was employed.
I was also amazed that on the way up from the waterfront, the roads climb at an 18% grade. Also, there were fantastic, beautiful apartments and condos overlooking the Puget Sound waterfront. However, the I-5 highway, and train tracks were right next to them, and the hum of the noise pollution was horrible. I am just not use to the noise.

Glad you enjoyed the Seattle waterfront, sounds like a fun week. Enjoy the rest of the trip.
