Carolina’s Notes
Today we plan on going to the Westside of Seattle and checking out a park where we can bike ride. We leisurely got up and got ready and ate. The Internet connection here is hindering to our ability to post items to Tony’s Facebook page and our travel blog. So once we obtain a strong and reliable connection we’ll add and update these sites.
We made it to the Westside of Seattle and played along the water. We rode the tandem, waded in the water, napped on beach, drank margaritas at a local bar, Cactus, and BBQ’d lamb chops while we watched the sunset. I must say that the shoreline isn’t as smooth as our beaches along Lake Michigan. I assume the difference is volcanic rocks grace these shores as opposed to water on Lake Michigan. I was shocked at the noticeable difference. So far this is the most relaxed that I’ve been on this sabbatical despite my forgetting to take my dose of Dramamine and wrist bands. Tony said I wouldn’t need them and he was right. I’m so at home by water and the mountains just throw my whole system out of whack.
Tony is trying to journalize while taking in the water sights. It’s been difficult for him to feel inspired between having to drive, make sure I’m not having a panic attack, and monitoring things back in Michigan. It is refreshing to see Tony writing and relaxing at the same time. After enjoying dinner at the water Tony will get us home.
We watched a movie then turned in at 10:00 p.m. (PST).
Tony’s Notes
It was a good day. We drove over to West Seattle and played all day at Alki Beach Park. We finally did some bike riding. The view of the downtown Seattle skyline was beautiful. I could see the Celebrity Cruise line ship across the water and thought how easy it would have been for us to go buy last minute tickets for an Alaskan cruise from the Seattle port.
I would assume it was a cruise up the inner passage and back to Seattle. I am sure there are many RV’ers that park their motorhomes somewhere, and head out on a cruise. Although, I think most the RV’ers drive their RV up to Alaska.
I couldn’t help but stop in the late afternoon at the Cactus bar and drink some margaritas. It was an open area bar right off the water and had the vacation theme all over it. They were excellent drinks, and excellent chips, salsa, and guacamole. We continued on our bicycle journey and saw some magnificent views in some of the residential areas. There was an apartment building built out on the water on top of a dock. One set of condos had porches built out over the water. I could see someone on their porch grilling their dinner. I thought what a great backyard.
Once we put our bike away, we sat right at the beach picnic area and I was able to barbecue the rack of lamb. It was good, and topped off the day quite well.
