September 15th - Cody & Thermopolis

Carolina’s Notes
Well we woke up later than usual because we were recuperating from yesterday’s trip to Yellowstone National Park and having cocktails with dinner once we were back in downtown Cody. We brushed our teeth and threw clothes on to get Matt, the Malibu, into the local Chevelot Dealer because on the return trip from Yellowstone we heard noises coming from the car. The car seems to be ok. We are glad because the person we spoke to seemed to think our car was fine. Then we sat at a local coffee house and had coffee and our morning treat then we decided to venture to Thermopolis, WY to soak in the Hot Springs Park. We stopped to have breakfast at a local Cody diner so we would have had a substantial meal before making our journey. Thermopolis offers a free soak in their natural Hot Springs Pools. It’s a state attraction. So we made the 160 miles round trip journey. It was worth the trip to soak 20 minutes in a natural hot spring. Tony & I grabbed a catnap and showered when we returned to Harry, RV, because we were very relaxed and actually sleepy as well as smelled of sulfur. This is usual and customary when one soaks in natural hot springs as appose to hot tubs. This was the price Tony & I were willing to pay.

We then had chores to do; the chores were laundry and dinner. These tasks took up the rest of the day. The rest of the evening we were planning and packing for our return tour of Yellowstone and then continuing onward to Grand Teton National Park.

Tony’s Notes
We heard some jerking in the transmission on our Chevy Malibu. The manager at the dealership said that automobiles will do that at higher elevations and so far, all is well with the car. It was a relaxing drive to Thermopolis. The twenty minute soak in the natural hot spring pool was quite a healing experience. It does not even compare to soaking in a hot tub. I was glad we made the trip, and it was relaxing after hiking and running around the day before. It was also good to catch up on chores around the ‘house’ and get some of the journalizing done. Carolina has journalized on a daily basis, and I am still trying to catch up.

We still had several days ahead in the Yellowstone / Teton area of Wyoming, and we had to wait until our second mailing arrived from Heather. I cannot remember if we made our own food for dinner or went out, but I do remember that we made a trip to the local Dairy Queen before going to bed.
