Carolina’s Notes
We got up and threw on clothes because it was cold and to get the car into the dealership to have the window fixed. It took the dealer about three hours to fix. Tony & I passed the time walking the neighboring town. We ate breakfast out which left both of our stomachs in turmoil. If we hadn’t wanted to get the car in to get fixed we would have eaten at home. Anyway, about four hundred dollars and three hours later the car was ready. The Customer Service at the dealer was outstanding. Tony asked for a price reduction and the dealership did what they could. I was grateful and I’m guessing Tony was too. We got home and did computer work. We have been Internet challenged at times and this has caused a little bit of a backlog for me. I’m glad I can catch up.
We both were restless but ailing from breakfast so a bike ride didn’t sound appealing. Tony remarked that we should try to find a recycling center for our plastic bottles and things. We also needed to mail correspondences. Well we found the Post Office and a Lafayette Municipal Clerk told Tony where a recycling center is in the next town. We dumped the recyclables then we continued to Lincoln City, OR, which is on the Pacific Ocean Coast. We enjoyed the time we spent in Lincoln City. I am sorrowful to report that there were two Sea Lions that were washed up and dying on the beach. I couldn’t go near these two locations because it disturbed me. I know in the wild that it is the survival of the fittest yet seeing it unfold before your eyes is a totally different experience. I said a prayer for both of God’s creatures and asked for God’s mercy for each Sea Lion. I continued to soak in the magic of Pacific Ocean while holding hands with the man I love. Not a bad way to spend a late afternoon and early evening. On the journey back, Tony swung by the Tanger Outlet Stores so I could hunt for a couple items but I left empty handed. It is ok because I’ll make due with what I brought from home. Tony also humored me and stopped at a sports bar so I could watch the rest of Monday Night Football. The game was Minnesota Vikings verses Green Bay Packers. I was glad to see this competition because it is the Detroit Lions division rivals. This time I cheered for Green Bay, which typically doesn’t happen. I am one of the exceptions that I do not care for Brett Farve. I do agree that he is one of the great quarterbacks that play/played the game. Yet, I don’t know how he carries his ego-inflated head around on top of his shoulders or how he gets through doors with that head. Seriously I was looking forward to Green Bay stuffing a win down Farve’s throat alas it just didn’t happen. I hope Tony enjoyed himself; despite the loss I enjoyed. Tony was looking forward to eating at home but sacrificed for me. Anyway, we got home and I watched TV while Tony did computer work. Then Tony took me to bed. I enjoyed my day with Tony and no bickering broke out…yahoo!
Tony’s Notes
Yeah, I can’t remember if I had written about the repair on the car. However, when we were driving up to Olympic National Park, the rear window on the Malibu would not go back up. I had manually pulled it up and taped it closed. We figured we would wait until we got to a bigger city with a Chevy dealership, and have them check it out. When we got up today, knowing it was Monday, I wanted to get it to the dealership quickly. So, we dropped it off and walked the streets. When they called me, they quoted me $440 to replace the electric motor on the rear window assembly. It I was smart, I would have removed the rear door panel myself, and ‘permanently’ closed the window and saved $400 bucks. It would be different if it was the front window. Anyway, we had them fix it. When I went to pick it up, I asked for a senior citizen discount, my usual line. To our surprise, they knocked off a little over $50 dollars. So, the repair cost $389.00. This would be one of those unplanned, but expected bumps in the road on any extended RV’ing trip.
It was a beautiful day, so our drive through a national forest, to get over to Oregon’s coast was very beautiful. Lincoln City was a very nice coastal town, and the ocean views were spectacular.
It was sad that there was one sea lion and one seal on the beach just lying there waiting to die. We had a short visit in the area and started to make our way homeward. I was surprised when Carolina asked to stop at a sport’s bar to watch TV. However, we found a cool little spot and ate steak, drank beer, and she watched football while I played Oregon’s Video Lottery games. I lost about eight bucks.
