Carolina’s Notes
Well we woke and got ready to tour Yellowstone National Park. What can you say about Yellowstone; it’s gorgeous no matter what part you visit. Tony & I came into the East Entrance then proceeded to follow along the ‘Sylvan Pass’ to ‘Fishing Bridge’ and going up to ‘Canyon Village.’ We ran out of daylight and energy to continue to ‘Old Faithful.’ So we are going to return while on route to the ‘Grand Teton National Park.’
We took over two hundred pictures of our journey through Yellowstone and these pictures say everything my mere words cannot describe. I had a terrific journey to, through and home from Yellowstone. Once we got into Cody we decided to stop to have dinner and cocktails. We ate at ‘Cassie’s Supper Club.’ It was fine. We got home to Harry and let our food digest then fell right to sleep once our heads hit the pillow.
Tony’s Notes
The drive from Cody, Wyoming to the East entrance of Yellowstone was yet another scenic byway. Going through the Buffalo Bill State Park, then the national forest (can’t think of the name at the moment) was spectacular. Over the next week, I would have to make this drive to get to Yellowstone several times. We saw a male moose, with big antlers, run across the road. I was glad I had purchased the $80 annual pass to the National parks when we went through the Badlands, and Devils Tower because it would save us money over the next several months visiting National Parks.
We made our way through Yellowstone’s East entrance and around Yellowstone Lake. It was amazing to see a huge mountain lake and come to a point where a part of the shore was bubbling with boiling water, because it bumped up against a thermal area. You could smell sulfur anytime we passed by thermal areas.
After going through the Fishing Bridge area, and stopping for a quick bight to eat, we went north to the ‘Canton Village’ area and checked out the upper and lower falls of the “Grand Canyon of Yellowstone”. While Carolina waited near the falls, I walked down some stairs that were built in the side of the canyon, all the way down to the bottom area of the canyon. It was a spectacular view looking up and around the canyon.
I am not afraid of heights; however, the walk up those stairs was quite un-nerving. They were made like steel scaffolding with holes that you could see through. So, as I walked up, even if I kept my eyes looking down at the stairs, it kind of made a person dizzy and want to hang on with two hands on the railing. Everybody had the same issue going up.
I had an amazing cardio workout climbing those stairs back up. That was two days in a row with a good cardio workout, and I was happy about that.
All along the way, and throughout the day, we stopped along the shore of Yellowstone Lake, the Yellowstone River, and cascades, and the canyon and falls. We drove and hiked up to ‘Artist Point’ and we took quite a few photos. By late afternoon, we were pretty tired, and we headed for home base.
Cassie’s was a nice supper club. It was old, and years ago it was a whore house; it had history to it. The waitress did a good job of taking care of us. We ate big steaks. We were still in beef country and we were eating way too much red meat.
It was a good day and we saw amazing sights.
